2023 Annual General Meeting and First Council Meeting update

Port Stephens Netball Association held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 8 March 2023.


The following appointments occurred:

  • Luke Mather - Rees Pritchard Partners was appointed Auditor.

  • Wendy Archer AM - was appointed Patron.

Wendy Archer AM officiated over the appointment of the Executive Committee for 2023. The following appointments were made:

  • Jodi Cassar - elected President

  • Samantha Rumbel - elected Representative Convenor

  • Lydia Peters - elected Secretary

  • Justin Ratray - elected Treasurer

  • Nadina Marsh - elected Technical Services Convenor

  • Sue Xenos - elected Games Services Convenor

The position of Administration remains vacant, and we welcome any interested person who would like to join the Executive to email their expressed interest to portstephensnetball@bigpond.com


The following people were elected into the below positions for 2023:

  • Canteen Convenor: Sue Coulter

  • Assistant Treasurer: Emma Penfold

  • Carnival Convenor: Vacant

  • Coaching Convenor: Jessica Rumbel

  • Fixtures Convenor: Tyler Coulter

  • Grading Convenor: Jessica Murray

  • Grounds Convenor: Leighton Knight

  • Selection Convenor: Emma Rumbel

  • Umpires Convenor: Cherie Edwards

  • Member Protection Information Officer: Vacant

Congratulations and thanks to all who nominated for both the Executive and Convenor positions in 2023. It is the hard work of our volunteers that enable the participation of the boys and girls, women and men who enjoy our game each week.


Since the meeting nominations have been received for the following positions to be ratified at our next Council meeting.

  • Carnival Convenor: Nomination received by Danielle Tranter

  • Member Protection Information Officer: Nomination received by Wendy Thomas (Life Member)

Thank you to Danielle and Wendy for your commitment to our Association.


Immediately following the Annual General Meeting the first Council Meeting for the year occurred. The below items were confirmed during the meeting:

  • Round One will commence on Saturday 29 April, there will be a parade of colours immediately before the first games are played.

  • Mothers Day Round will be known as the Judy Parker Round in memory of Judy who passed away last month.

  • In addition to the above the Sport Person of the Year award will be renamed the Judy Parker Sports Person of the Year Award with Member Clubs to put forward nominations later this year for announcement at the end of the season.

  • Grading meeting will occur on Monday 20 March 6.30pm at the upstairs Clubhouse

  • Fixtures meeting will occur on Monday 27 March 6.30pm at the upstairs Clubhouse

  • All teams will be required to supply one umpire this year who will be allocated a game at the same timeslot of the team playing.

  • All teams were reminded to correctly complete the scoresheet each week, including borrowed players.

  • A reminder that there will only be one wet weather round this year- after Rd 12 on the 6th August 2023.

  • Playing times for this season are yet to be confirmed but will be allocated by the Fixtures Committee and will take into consideration that the maximum number of games per timeslot should be achieved. This may mean that some timeslots change from previous seasons.

  • Jodi Cassar, Emma Penfold and Marcia Smith - Port Stephens Council - Sports Council Representatives

Port Stephens Netball Association is looking forward to a great season in 2023.
