Hunter Central Coast Regional Meeting

Port Stephens Netball Association hosted the Netball NSW Hunter Central Coast Regional Meeting on 19 October 2024.

These meetings are led by the Netball NSW Hunter Central Coast Region Manager Kirsten Clarke and provide an opportunity for all netball Associations from the region to come together to discuss grassroots netball opportunities and challenges through to elite pathways.

Associations also heard from Hunter Netball and Central Coast Netball who provide athletes from our region with a pathway into the Netball NSW Metro League competition. And from Central Coast Heart who provide athletes from our region with the pathway to the pinnacle netball competition hosted by Netball NSW being Premier League.

We heard of the successes in the Hunter Central Coast Region including:

  • Approximately 6,000 students participated in this year's Schools Cup from the Hunter Central Coast Region (PSNA hosted both Primary and High School this year). These results outperformed the Metro Region (Sydney) by more than 1,500 students. What a fantastic result for the Hunter Central Coast Region.

  • Netball in the Hunter Central Coast Region has seen growth in our registered members of more than 13 percent with now around 20,000 people in our region playing netball across all competitions in 2024.

Coaching resources available to all Netball NSW Communities

These resources are great tools to have in your netball toolkit and provide great coaching resources that support Coaches including:

Walking Netball

We also heard of the benefits of Walking Netball. Walking Netball is netball but at a walking pace!

The program is a modified version of netball that reduces the risk of injury while promoting a safe, non-threatening environment for play. Walking Netball is a great alternative for those who feel they cannot play the traditional Netball format anymore, for anyone brand new to the sport or for those just looking for a fun and friendly way to play.

Port Stephens Netball Association will be hosting Walking Netball program as part of our 2025 programs running from May to September, not 'teams' required - people just register as individuals turn up and do a combination of skills and match play.
